Hi,

I use Stax headphones but they were bought 'used' over 15 years ago.

Like all things HiFi it's a matter of personal choice, but here is a site that might help you.

http://www.headphonereviews.org/

I hope this helps & good luck with your search.

Hai,

I hope I am in the right forum with the people who might know what's best!

I'm looking to buy new in ear headphones, but i'm getting more and more lost in the web of al the different brands...

I am a musician myself and like good, honest sound.

Does anyone know what is best with an 80-100 euro budget?

Hope you can help,

Best regards,

Marvin

Room treatment the single most important upgrade you can make?

Well IMO it certainly is, especially if you intend to use large speakers in a smallish room. For most speakers, adding some absorbent treatment on the first reflection points is a must - nice decorative rug with some foam slab behind will work wonders. Follow this up with some bass corner traps and some more absorbent treatment behind the listening seat and you will notice a well defined improvement in clarity and definition. This will enhance the sound of any system at any budget level.

Anyone else sorting their room out at the moment?

I currently run 6 metres on one side and 2 on the other - absolutely no difference in sound to having 6 on both sides. The main reason IMO for always having two equal lengths is to allow a bit of flexibility should you wish to re-arrange your equipment.

No just the standard plastic braket as well. The cost of a gold with a Deccapod will be the same as a basic Super Gold - perhaps I'll get round to asking Brian at Presence one day his opinion. As essentially the rebuild cost is the same between a Gold & Super Gold, it could perhaps be argued that first time round go for the Gold with Deccapod, and then when it's re-tip time get it fitted with a Fine line tip as per Super Gold. The was in the past the opinion that the plastic bracket added some much needed compliance between the cartridge and arm, but I don't know if this is true. Certainly the Deccapod is much heavier and far more rigid.

No, mine's just in the standard red plastic mount.
Beautiful cart'. Is the pod worth a go?
Never tried it in a Nima - sold my Roksan a couple of years back to make way for a Pioneer PL-71.

The last Decca/London I used to have was actually a mix of Gold & Super Gold (gold rebuilt to Super Gold Spec). I have to say it is one of the few cartridges I have kept coming back to over the years and will probably get another at some stage - did you go for the Deccapod option?

Got a picture somewhere of it mounted in a Roksan NIMA, I'll post it if I can find it again.

I actually believe every true vinyl enthusiast owes it to themselves to try a London at some stage, they really can be quite magical.
